WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Elon University women's tennis team came up short on the road against No. 27 Wake Forest on Sunday, as the Phoenix lost 4-0.

With the loss, Elon drops to 14-5 on the season. Wake Forest improves to 14-9 with the victory. 
 
THE RUNDOWN

• Elon lost a pair of competitive doubles decisions to lose the doubles point. 
• Wake Forest's top team of Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth, the No. 26 ranked doubles pairing in the ITA Doubles Rankings, defeated Sibel Tanik and Lizette Reding 6-3 in the No. 1 position. 
• Julie Ball and Madison Cordisco fought from a break behind on Court 2 but fell 6-4. The Demon Deacons clinched doubles with that victory.
• Playing No. 3 doubles, Olivia Archer and Miray Konar raced out to an early break lead. However, the first-time pairing did not get the chance finish their match, as Wake clinched doubles with the score at 5-5 on Court 3. 
• The Demon Deacons won Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles in straight sets to clinch the match.
• On Court 5, Archer won the first set of her singles match 7-5 and led 3-1 in the second set when the match was stopped. 
• Konar was a game away from winning the second set of her singles match on Court 6 when the match was abandoned. The sophomore lost the first set 6-2 but led 5-4 in the second. 
• Three of Elon's five losses this season have come against Atlantic Coast Conference opponents. 
• This was just the second match this season Elon did not win a point and the first since the Phoenix also lost 4-0 against No. 34 Charlotte on Feb. 25. 

 
UP NEXT
Elon hosts William & Mary on April 8 in a rematch of last season's Colonial Athletic Association championship match. The contest will start at 12 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.
