WILLIAMSBURG, Va. – The Elon University men's tennis team fell 4-1 against UNC Wilmington in the championship match of the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament on Sunday. The match was played indoors at William & Mary's McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center due to weather.

Elon finishes its season with a 15-9 record. UNCW improves to 17-7 with the victory and earns the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. It is the third straight CAA title for the Seahawks and their ninth in the last 14 years.
 
THE RUNDOWN

• For the second straight day, the Phoenix fell short in doubles, as UNCW won the first two completed matches at the Nos. 2 and 3 spots to take the point. Nicholas Campbell and Daniel Martin led 5-4 when their match was abandoned on Court 1. 
• The Seahawks extended their lead to 3-0 with victories at Nos. 2 and 4 singles.
• Martin posted Elon's lone point with a 7-6 (5), 6-2 win on Court 1 against UNCW's Reece Falck. The junior ends the season with a team-high 18 wins in singles, all at the No. 1 spot. 
• On Court 6, Ben Zipay fought from a set down to force a third but could not overcome a double-break deficit in the final frame, as UNCW's Trey Mallory won to clinch for the Seahawks.
• Freshmen Oskar Antinheimo and Veljko Krstic were both in final sets when the match was stopped. Antinheimo led 2-1 in his third set on Court 5 while Krstic was at 3-3 on Court 3.
• Elon has made the championship match in three of the last four CAA Tournaments. The Phoenix is now 1-2 in those contests.
