THE RUNDOWN
- Elon delivered three strong doubles performances to clinch its first point of the season.
- Playing on her birthday, Sibel Tanik paired with Lizette Reding on Court 1. The duo picked up a 6-1 win in the first match to finish for their 25th victory together over the last three seasons.
- Ella Suk and Miray Konar clinched the doubles point for the Phoenix with a 6-1 victory of their own at the No. 3 spot. It was Suk's first career dual doubles victory, and the third different partner Konar has won with since joining the team last season.
- With the doubles point already secured, Madison Cordisco and Mariana Reding finished their match on Court 2, winning it 6-4. It was Reding's first dual doubles win and Cordisco's third different winning doubles combination with the Phoenix.
- Coming off her first career doubles victory earlier in the match, Mariana Reding rolled to the first singles win of her career at No. 5 singles, losing just four games in a 6-3, 6-1 decision against Longwood's Karina Rizvanova.
- Shortly after Mariana's win, her older sister Lizette put the Phoenix up 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at No. 2 singles against Oriana Izarra. The win was the 40th of Lizette's singles career and was the sixth time she has dropped one or fewer games in a victory.
- Suk joined Mariana Reding by adding her first career singles win to go along with her first career doubles victory, as the freshman won 6-3, 6-0 on Court 6 against Nina Hederich to move the Phoenix ahead 4-0.
- After dropping the first set on Court 1, Tanik won the second 6-3 to send the contest into a match tiebreak. The birthday girl went on to win the breaker 10-7 for her first victory of the season and the 40thof her Elon career. It was also Tanik's eighth win at Elon from a set down and her fourth in a match tiebreak.
- After coming from a set down and saving a match point, Konar finally fell in a fierce three-set battle at No. 3 singles. The junior won her second set 7-5 to send the contest into a decisive match tiebreak, and after falling behind 4-0, Konar rallied to take a lead. Trailing 9-8, she saved a match point but lost the next two after the changeover as Longwood's Phoebe Mitchell completed a dramatic victory with an 11-9 win in the tiebreak.
- With the victory, Elon has now won its last five meetings with the Lancers and leads the head-to-head series between the teams 6-1.

- Elon heads to Florida next weekend for a pair of matches. The Phoenix will face Georgia Southern on Jan. 27 in a neutral-site contest at North Florida's campus before taking on North Florida on Jan. 28. Both matches are slated to begin at 10 a.m.
