Elon Falls To College Of Charleston On The Road

Mt. Pleasant, S.C.- Sunday afternoon, the Elon Phoenix (10-2-1, 5-2 CAA) dropped a road conference contest to the College of Charleston (9-3-4, 2-2-3 CAA). The Phoenix fell to the Cougars, 3-0.
 
How It Happened
  • Charleston started fast with a goal in the second minute to take the lead.
  • The first Phoenix chance came from Kelly Degnan whose attempt was stopped by the keeper.
  • Katie Bisgrove stepped up with a number of key saves to keep the Phoenix in the game.
  • Elon's best opportunity came from Kennedy Jones in the 30th minute. Jones went on a run and blasted a curling effort that ricocheted off the left post to keep the score 1-0.
  • The Phoenix came out hot in the second half with several chances at goal. First, from Isa Murdock and then Kennedy Jones.
  • Against the run of play, Charleston grabbed a 2-0 lead and with Elon tracking back, the Cougars grabbed a third to seal the win.
 
Notes and Stats
  • Elon drops just their second game of the season and in CAA play.   
  • Katie Bisgrove made seven saves in the loss to the Cougars.  
  • Elon currently sits in first place in the CAA table with a 5-2 CAA record with 15 points.

  • The Phoenix will return to Rudd Field for their next two games beginning Thursday. Kickoff with the Hofstra Pride will be at 7 PM Thursday night.
