  • Petro Klishch put two efforts on in two minutes near the end of the first half when his headed effort at the near post was saved.

  • The Phoenix nearly grabbed their opening goal when a free kick from Scott Vatne found the hands of the Charlotte keeper who put the effort barely wide.
  • Victor Stromsten nearly netted a goal, but the effort was cleared just in front of the net by a 49er defender.
  • Charlotte was able to see out the game from there and take a 2-0 win back to the Queen City.
