Volleyball Welcomes Towson For Weekend Series

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team (11-10, 5-5 CAA) welcomes Towson (16-4, 7-3 CAA) to Schar Center for a weekend series with their annual Dig Pink match taking place on Saturday, October 26. Both matches are set to start at 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

The Phoenix went 0-2 against Stony Brook last weekend, falling in four sets on Oct. 19 before coming up short in a five-set battle on Oct. 20.
On Saturday, Caroline Berlekamp led the team recording a career-high eight blocks and adding five kills.
Sydney Love reached double-digit kills for the 13th time this season with 16 kills on Saturday and 18 on Sunday to pace the Phoenix on both days.
Caroline Doyle tallied 23 digs on Sunday followed by Anna Sewell and Ericka Link who added season-highs of nine digs each.
Annabelle Schall extended her ace streak to seven straight matches and led the team in assists with 36 on the weekend.

PHOENIX FACTS

Annabelle Schall leads the conference in total aces with 37. She also is third in the league in aces per set (0.48) and sixth in assists per set (5.57).
Sydney Love ranks fifth in the conference in total kills (254) and seventh in kills per set (3.26).
Caroline Berlekamp is third in the conference in hitting percentage at .323. She also paces the team with 77 blocks this season.
Caroline Doyle leads the team with 3.76 digs per set and ranks seventh in the league in digs with 297.
Elon is fourth in the CAA in aces with 125 and ranks No. 6 in hitting percentage at .207.

THE SERIES

Towson leads the all-time series against the Phoenix 19-3.
Elon fell in both matchups last season in straight sets on November 4-5.

SCOUTING TOWSON

Towson is 16-4 overall this season and 7-3 in CAA play after completing a weekend sweep over Hampton. They are currently tied for second in league play with Delaware.
Last season, the Tigers went 24-6 and were picked to win the conference in the 2024 CAA Preseason Poll with five first-place votes.
Senior outside hitter Victoria Barrett was named the 2024 CAA Preseason Player of the Year, while Erin Brothers and Sydney Stewart were named to the 2024 Preseason Honorable Mention team.
Barrett paces the Tigers with 302 kills and ranks third in the league in kills per set at 4.03.
Stewart is second in the CAA with 4.65 digs per set and ranks fourth in aces per set with 0.42.
At the net, Ylenia De Mango leads the team with 88 blocks and ranks No. 3 in the conference, averaging 1.17 blocks per set.
Kaitlyn Moran and Maisie Jesse lead the Tiger offense each tallying over 370 assists on the season.
Don Metil is in his 12th season at the helm of the Towson volleyball program and is the winningest coach in program history.

UP NEXT

The maroon and gold travel west on I-40 to take Piedmont Triad rival North Carolina A&T. Saturday's match begins at 5:00 p.m. while Sunday's matchup features a 3:00 p.m. start.
