Volleyball Continues CAA Play This Weekend At Piedmont Rival North Carolina A&T

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team (11-12, 5-7 CAA) travels west on I-40 to take Piedmont Triad rival North Carolina A&T (13-7, 8-4 CAA) this Saturday and Sunday. Saturday's match begins at 5:00 p.m., while Sunday's matchup features a 3:00 p.m. start.

LAST TIME OUT

The Phoenix fell to Towson in both matchups last weekend. Elon lost in four sets on Oct. 26 before losing in straight sets on Oct. 27.
On Saturday, Kyla Johnson matched her career-high in blocks with six to lead the team.
Cameron Lanier and Clara LaRue each had 19 kills on the weekend.
Annabelle Schall led the team with 34 assists followed by Ericka Link who added 24.
Caroline Doyle tallied 17 digs on Saturday and 10 digs on Sunday, her sixth consecutive match with double-digit digs.
On Sunday, Carolina Berlekamp recorded a team-high six blocks while Lindsey Harris followed with four blocks.

PHOENIX FACTS

Annabelle Schall leads the conference in total aces (38) and aces per set (0.45). She is also sixth in the league in assists per set (5.51).
Caroline Berlekamp is third in the conference in hitting percentage at .316 and leads the team in blocks with 85. She ranks ninth in the league averaging 1.01 blocks per set.
Sydney Love ranks No. 6 in the CAA in total kills (268) and No. 9 in kills per set (3.15).
Caroline Doyle leads the team and is seventh in the conference in digs (324) and digs per set (3.77)
Elon is fifth in the CAA in aces (131) and hitting percentage (.207).

THE SERIES

Elon leads the all-time series against the Aggies 33-11.
Last season, Elon fell in both matchups, losing in five sets on Oct. 14, 2023, and straight sets on Oct. 15, 2023.

SCOUTING NORTH CAROLIA A&T

North Carolina A&T is on a four-game win streak in CAA play after completing the series sweep against Charleston last weekend on Oct. 25-26.
The Aggies are 13-7 overall this season and 8-4 in conference play.
Last season, the Aggies went 8-18 and were picked to finish 13th in the 2024 CAA Preseason Poll.
Freshman Tyne Ross leads the team with 311 kills and leads the league averaging 4.38 kills per set. Ross has been named CAA Rookie of the Week four times this season and was named CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 28.
Sophomore setter Leonor Polezzi leads the Aggies offense with 704 assists and ranks No. 2 in the conference with 9.92 assists per set. She also ranks fifth in the league averaging 0.41 aces per set.
Maya Johnson paces North Carolina A&T with 59 blocks while Valeria Estrada leads the team with 250 digs.
Hal Clifton is in his 14th season at the helm of the Aggies volleyball program.

UP NEXT

The maroon and gold return to Schar Center for their final CAA home series on Nov. 9-10. Saturday's Together We Stand match and Sunday's Senior Day will begin at 2 p.m.
