Elon, N.C.- The Elon Phoenix (10-7-1, 6-2 CAA) fell to the Hofstra Pride (13-4-2) in the 2024 CAA Men's Soccer Championship Semifinals, Sunday afternoon. Elon dropped their match with Hofstra, 2-0.
Elon has reached the CAA Men's Soccer Championship Semifinals for the fourth straight season and finished as the tournament's number one seed in two of the last three years.
How It Happened
- Both sides traded possession early, with the first action coming seven minutes in with a foul on the Phoenix.
- Hofstra had the first opportunity on the afternoon with a number of shots, but none would find the target in part to a great defensive effort by the Phoenix.
- The first shot on goal in the match came from Scott Vatne outside of the box. The effort would be saved to keep the match at 0-0.
- After a number of weak efforts from Hofstra in the first 45, the teams went to the half all square.
- The Pride found two goals in three minutes to jump out in front 2-0 in the 57th minute.
- The Phoenix would have promising chances in the final 30 minutes but could not find a goal as the Pride bested the Phoenix, 2-0.
