RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore
Nick Dorn of the Elon University men's basketball team was named the CAA Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon, Nov. 25.
Â
Dorn helped the Phoenix to a 2-0 week with victories at NIU and Notre Dame. The Charlotte native averaged 18 points per game while grabbing 5.0 boards per contest. He also shot 60 percent overall from the field (12-of-20) while knocking down 53 percent of his three-pointers (8-of-15).
Â
Dorn scored 12 points with four rebounds in the Phoenix's 75-48 win at NIU, the Phoenix's first true road win since 2018. He followed that performance by scoring 24 points – one off his career high – while going 5-of-6 from beyond the arc at Notre Dame. He also grabbed six rebounds as Elon defeated the Fighting Irish 84-77 – the program's first win over a P4 opponent since 2012.
Â
This is Dorn's first CAA Player of the Week award. Last season during his freshman campaign, he tied the league lead with four CAA Rookie of the Week selections.
Â
Elon is back in action this weekend, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, playing at the Cathedral Classic in Philadelphia. The Phoenix will take on Maine, Navy and host Penn at the tournament.
