NEWBERRY, S.C. – For the first time this season, the Elon University men's tennis team won a match after dropping the doubles point, as the Phoenix rallied in singles to defeat Presbyterian 5-2 on Sunday.

With the victory, Elon improved to 8-4 on the season. Presbyterian fell to 5-7 with the loss.
 
THE RUNDOWN

• Presbyterian won doubles matches on Courts 2 and 3 to go ahead 1-0. 
• Juan Sengariz leveled the score at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory on Court 4 against Pedro Cardoso of Presbyterian. It was his sixth victory of the season and his third in a row. It was also his second straight win by a 6-1, 6-1 score. 
• On Court 6, freshman Jack Curtis put Elon ahead with a 6-1, 6-2 victory against Marco Foglieni. It was his eighth victory this season and his fourth at the No. 6 spot. 
• Veljko Krstic topped Javier Matos 6-0, 6-4 at the No. 1 spot to put the Phoenix up 3-1. It was his eighth win of the year, with four each coming at the Nos. 1 and 2 positions. 
• Daniel Martin secured the winning point for Elon with a 7-6 (3), 6-0 triumph against David Mamalat on Court 2. It was Martin's fifth win of the season as he improved to 4-3 at the No. 2 spot. 
• Playing the No. 3 spot, Oskar Antinheimo delivered Elon's final win of the day against Denim Yadav. The 6-2, 6-4 victory was Antinheimo's team-best ninth of the season.
• This was Elon's first victory of the season after losing the doubles point. 
• The Phoenix has now won consecutive road matches after losing its first three away from home this season. 
• The win avenged a home loss against the Blue Hose last season.
