THE RUNDOWN
- For the first time since Feb. 25, Elon did not win the doubles point, as the Seahawks won on Courts 1 and 2 to go ahead 1-0.
- Simone Bergeron and Ella Suk started off doubles strong for the Phoenix, winning 6-0 on Court 3 in the first match to finish. It was their team-best 11th win of the season together, all of which have come in Elon's last 15 matches. The duo has now won two matches by 6-0 scores this season.
- Elon led by an early break on Court 2 but went on to lose 7-5. In the final match to finish on Court 1, the Seahawks broke in the final game to win 6-4 and clinch doubles.
- This snapped an eight-match streak of doubles points for the maroon and gold. This was just the second time Elon has lost doubles since Jan. 28.
- Mariana Reding shook off her loss at No. 2 doubles by dispatching UNCW's Elif Albayrak 6-1, 6-0 on Court 3 to even the match at 1-1. It was Mariana's 12th victory of the season and her sixth at the No. 3 spot. The win ended a three-match singles skid for the freshman. Her 6-0 second set was her fifth perfect frame of the season.
- With a 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Alicia Eberwein at No. 6 singles, Bergeron moved the Phoenix ahead for the first time on the day. The freshman improved to 9-1 on the season with the win. Eight of her nine victories have come in straight sets. This was the seventh time this season she has won both a doubles and singles contest in the same match.
- Playing the No. 2 position, Sibel Tanik stormed past Stela Joksimovic 6-3, 6-2 to make the score 3-1 in favor of Elon. It was Tanik's 48th singles victory at Elon and her ninth this season. The senior is 3-2 this season at the No. 2 spot and is now 3-1 against CAA opponents.
- Lizette Reding secured the winning point on Court 1 for Elon by taking down Eda Arli 7-5, 7-5. The senior trailed 3-0 in her second set but got the break back and secured another to go up 6-5. She served out the final game to deliver Elon its fourth point. The victory drew her even with sister Mariana for the team lead (12) and was the 51st of her career, which moves her into a four-way tie for sixth on Elon's career Division I win list. Lizette is 3-0 this season against CAA opponents and improved to 6-1 at the No. 1 spot with the win.
- The Seahawks won a three-setter on Court 4 to make the score 4-2.
