Wroblewski Saves 13 Shots; #14 Elon Draws Wake Forest

Winston-Salem, N.C.- Tomasz Wroblewski climbed to new heights in net for the #14 Elon Phoenix (6-0-1) Tuesday night. Wroblewski finished with a career-high 13 saves as a short-handed Phoenix squad drew 1-1 with the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (2-2-3).

Colin Veltri continued his hot pace as he scored in his fifth straight game to give Elon their lone goal of the night. Veltri has now secured a point in all seven games with the Phoenix this season.

How It Happened
  • From the beginning of the match, Elon was able to handle the Wake Forest pressure. After a spell of possession by the Demon Deacons, Elon surged on a counterattack after Wroblewski's first save.
  • Colin Veltri found the ball at his feet around midfield and surged forward. Veltri beat three Wake defenders before slotting the ball in the back of the net with his left foot to give Elon an early lead.
  • Wroblewski proved to be a match for the Wake Forest attack, as he continued to stop shots from the Wake Forest midfield throughout the first half.
  • Elon nearly found another opportunity when Veltri went down in the penalty box, but after video review, no foul was awarded.
  • Despite Wake Forest's shot numbers, they could not best the Elon keeper. Elon continued to counter the Demon Deacons long spell of possession with Calle Edelstam nearly giving the Phoenix a two-goal advantage in the 43rd minute.
  • The trends of the first half continued in the second with Elon absorbing Wake Forest's pressure.
  • Wake Forest finally got a shot past Wroblewski in the 80th minute which proved to be the decider as the teams would settle for a 1-1 draw.
