Volleyball Continues CAA Play With A Pair Of Matches At UNCW

ELON, N.C. – The Elon University volleyball team (6-7, 0-2 CAA) heads to Wilmington for a weekend series on Saturday and Sunday against UNCW (3-6, 0-2 CAA). Saturday's match will start at 4:00 p.m., and Sunday's match will begin at 2:00 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT

Elon started CAA play 0-2 after losing a pair of matches against Charleston last weekend. The Phoenix fell in four sets on Saturday and Sunday.
On Saturday, the Phoenix matched their best blocking performance this season with 11 team blocks. Kyla Johnson matched her career-high in blocks with six while Caroline Berlekamp added five.
Annabelle Schall eclipsed 2,000 career assists after two 20-plus assist performances against Charleston and had a double-double in both contests.
Cameron Lanier led the team with 26 kills against the Cougars.
On Sunday, the team recorded a season-best 13 aces with Berlekamp tallying five and Ericka Link adding four.

PHOENIX FACTS

Sydney Love leads the CAA with 163 kills and ranks No. 4 in kills per set with 3.33.
Annabelle Schall ranks fifth in the league in aces per set at 0.45 and sixth in assists per set at 5.71.
Caroline Berlekamp leads the team and ranks fourth in the conference in hitting percentage with a .352.
Caroline Doyle leads the team with 197 digs and ranks eighth in the league in digs per set at 3.94.
Elon is second in the CAA in aces with 78 and ranks No. 5 in aces per set at 1.56.

THE SERIES

UNCW leads the all-time series over the Phoenix 26-19.
Last season, the Seahawks defeated Elon in both matchups on September 23-24, 2023, in Schar Center.

SCOUTING UNCW

UNCW is 3-6 overall this season and 0-2 in CAA play after falling at Northeastern last weekend.
Last season, the Seahawks went 12-16, finishing seventh in the league.
The Seahawks were picked to finish eighth in the 2024 CAA Preseason Poll.
Senior middle blocker Grace Melick was named preseason honorable mention after leading the team with a career-high .336 hitting percentage. She currently ranks third in the league in blocks per set with 1.29.
Quinn Manley leads the team with 142 digs and ranks second in the CAA with 4.58 digs per set.
Sydney Marshall and Noe Gaeta lead the Seahawks offense, and both have recorded over 130 assists so far this season.
Dottie Hampton is in her fifth season as the head coach of the program.

UP NEXT

The Phoenix is back on the road next Thursday and Friday, October 3-4, to take on Hampton. Thursday's match is set to start at 6:00 p.m., and Friday's match will begin at 3:00 p.m.
