ELON – The Elon University volleyball team fell in straight sets to Northeastern, 3-0 (15-25, 19-25, 14-25), on Sunday afternoon at Schar Center.

Elon (4-13, 2-4 CAA) was limited to 26 total kills in the match, led by
Caroline Berlekamp with six on the offensive end.
Anna Sewell added five kills, while
Cameron Lanier contributed four.

Northeastern (7-8, 3-3 CAA) had two players reach double figures in kills - Brynn Smith (11) and Svenja Rodenbuesch (10). The Huskies hit .375 as a team and totaled 45 kills on 42 assists.

THE RUNDOWN
- The teams traded points early in the first set and were tied 10-10 following a Catherine Rucker solo block. Elon took a 13-12 lead on a Simrin Carlsen service ace, but Northeastern answered with a 4-1 run to move ahead 17-13, forcing an Elon timeout. The Huskies continued their surge to extend the lead to 21-14 before taking the opening frame, 25-15.
- Elon fell behind 4-2 early in the second set and trailed 16-10 after an Emma Rowell kill. The Phoenix responded with a 5-0 run to pull within one, 16-15, but Northeastern regrouped with a 5-0 run of its own to push the advantage to 21-15. Elon trimmed the deficit to 21-18 after a 3-0 spurt capped by a Berlekamp block, yet the Huskies closed on a 4-1 stretch to win the set, 25-19.
- The Phoenix again faced an early hole in the third, falling behind 5-1. Elon cut the margin to 6-4, but Northeastern countered with a 6-0 run to regain control. The Huskies never looked back, sealing the sweep with a 25-14 victory in the final frame.

NOTES AND STATS
- Northeastern improved its all-time record against Elon to 18-5, extending its winning streak in the series to nine straight.
- April Rice paced the Phoenix with 12 assists, while Kayla Palmer added eight assists and recorded her sixth service ace of the season.
