CHARLESTON – The Elon University volleyball team fell in four sets (21-25, 18-25, 25-22, 17-25) at the College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon at TD Arena in its season finale.

Anna Sewell led Elon (7-20, 5-11 CAA) with 10 kills, marking her fourth straight match with double-digit kills.
Cameron Lanier added nine kills and
Lindsey Harris finished with eight while hitting .467.

Charleston (18-9, 12-4 CAA) recorded 50 total kills in the match, with Morgan Cobb and Caroline Noonan tying for a team high with 13 each. Noonan also paced the Cougars with four blocks, while Lauren Dow posted 35 assists.

THE RUNDOWN
- Charleston took an early 8-5 lead in the first set, but the Phoenix rallied to pull within 11-10. The Cougars responded with a 5-0 run to stretch their lead to 16-10 before an Elon point stopped the surge. Charleston remained in control, becoming the first team to reach 20 while extending its lead to 20-13. Elon battled back with a 6-2 run to make it 22-19 and force a Cougar timeout. The Phoenix stayed within three at 24-21 before Charleston converted the set point for a 1-0 match lead.
- The Cougars opened the second set with a 10-3 advantage, prompting an Elon timeout. After Charleston extended its lead to 13-4, the Phoenix responded with a 4-0 run to close within 13-8 and force a Charleston timeout. The momentum continued as a kill by Catherine Rucker made it 16-13, but the Cougars rebuilt their lead with a 4-1 run and went on to take the set, 25-18.
- Elon opened the third set strong, leading 7-3 behind blocks from Rucker and Harris. Charleston answered with a 3-0 run, but the Phoenix countered with a 3-0 run of its own to go ahead 10-6. Three consecutive kills from Sewell pushed the lead to 15-10, and her fourth straight kill forced a Cougar timeout. Charleston rallied to cut the deficit to 17-16, but Elon responded with a 4-0 run to move ahead 21-16. The Phoenix reached set point at 24-18 on an April Rice ace. Charleston saved four set points to make it 24-22, but Lanier delivered the clinching kill to give Elon the 25-22 win.
- The Phoenix jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the fourth set and held a 7-5 advantage before Charleston used a decisive 9-0 run to take control, 14-7. An attack error pushed the Cougars to a 20-12 lead. Elon attempted to climb back, but Charleston closed out the set and secured the 3-1 victory.

NOTES AND STATS
- Sewell averaged 3.18 kills over her final four matches (54 total) and finishes the season with a team-best 2.69 kills per set.
- Rice recorded 20 assists and surpassed 500 assists for the season, becoming the first Elon freshman to eclipse the mark since Jessica Parker in 2023.
- Elon outblocked Charleston 11-7. Rucker and Kyla Johnson each posted five blocks, and Harris added three.
- Senior Clara Simmons appeared in her first match since Oct. 31 at Campbell and tallied four kills in her return.
