Elon Continues To Excel In Graduation Success Rate

Eleven Phoenix Programs Earned Perfect 100% Scores

ELON – Elon Athletics continued its standard of academic excellence by earning a 97% Graduation Success Rate, according to annual data that was announced by the NCAA on Wednesday.

Phoenix student-athletes were tied for the second-best mark in the Coastal Athletic Association in the latest data and extended their streak to 10 consecutive years among the conference's top three schools in GSR. A total of 11 Elon athletics programs registered a perfect GSR score of 100%, which is the most since the Phoenix joined the CAA in 2014.

"Our sustained academic success, as reflected in our Graduation Success Rate, is a testament to Elon's unwavering commitment to academic excellence," Elon Director of Athletics Jennifer Strawley said. "This achievement highlights the exceptional dedication of our student-athletes, who consistently strive for greatness in the classroom, in competition, and throughout the community. It also reflects the collective effort of our coaches, faculty, and staff, who remain deeply committed to the holistic development of our student-athletes."

The 11 programs to earn a perfect 100% GSR are the following:
  • Men's Basketball (12th straight year)
  • Men's Cross Country (11th straight year)
  • Men's Golf (7th straight year)
  • Men's Soccer (3rd straight year)
  • Women's Basketball (9th straight year)
  • Women's Track & Field/Cross Country (first time in five years)
  • Women's Lacrosse (6th straight year)
  • Women's Soccer (5th straight year)
  • Softball (4th straight year)
  • Women's Tennis (11th straight year)
  • Volleyball (7th straight year)

In addition to the programs with perfect marks, the following teams had at least a 90% GSR:
  • Baseball (96%)
  • Football (91%)

The GSR is based on a six-year cohort, meaning that the latest report includes those student-athletes who received athletic scholarships, enrolled at Elon from 2015-18, and completed their degrees within six years.

The NCAA's GSR was developed in response to a mandate by college and university presidents for graduation data that more accurately reflects the mobility among today's college students. Both rates improve on the federally mandated graduation rate by including students who were omitted from the federal calculation.
