ELON, N.C. –  The Elon University men's soccer team is set to begin its 2025 fall campaign on Thursday night, while the women's soccer team looks to extend its winning streak in its second home match of the young season.

Each Monday, Rising Phoenix will preview the week ahead in Elon athletics. Here is a look at each Elon team competing this week.

Men's Soccer
Elon will open its season on the road against UAB in Birmingham on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 7 p.m. The Phoenix was picked to finish first overall in the CAA South Division, with seniors Majaliwa Msabaha and Colin Veltri, along with junior Charlie Kitch, earning spots on the All-CAA preseason team.

Women's Soccer
Coming off a commanding 4-0 victory over VMI, the Elon University women's soccer team is set to host Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. Junior Grace Gelhaus led the way against VMI, scoring two goals separated by only 21 seconds. Fellow junior Lauren McCauley and freshman Abby Brinker each added a goal of their own. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Bisgrove was named CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week after posting her first shutout of the season against VMI and tying her career-high with eight saves against VCU earlier in the week.
