ELON – Another week has come and gone and both Elon University men's and women's soccer teams remain undefeated. The women's team is on a six-match shutout streak, which is tied for the longest streak in program history, while the men's team secured another win last week to remain unbeaten in CAA play.
Looking ahead, the reigning CAA Champion men's golf team begins its fall campaign this week, alongside the men's tennis team, which will host the Elon Tournament at the JPTC this weekend.
Each Monday, Rising Phoenix will preview the week ahead in Elon athletics. Here is a look at each Elon team competing this week.
Men's Golf
For the first time this fall, the reigning CAA Champion men's golf team is competing, as the Phoenix opens its season at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday. The team is led by junior Jack Wieler, who won a share of the individual title in Myrtle Beach in 2024. On Sunday, Elon will travel to Waynesville, North Carolina to compete in round one of the JT Poston Invitational.
Women's Soccer
After capturing a tie against NC State and a 2-0 win at George Mason, the Elon women's soccer team remains unbeaten in 2025. With two more shutouts, the Phoenix extended its streak to six straight shutouts, which tied the program record. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Bisgrove has been in goal for all six matches and put up nine saves across her two starts last week, earning her another CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor. Elon will look to set a program shutout record on Wednesday night against South Carolina State at 5 p.m.
Volleyball
The Elon University volleyball team earned its first victory of the 2025 season against Delaware State last weekend, which marked head coach Matt Troy's first win in his Phoenix coaching career. Junior outside hitter Cameron Lanier led the team with 17 kills, while junior libero Shannon O'Laughlin added 17 digs and seven assists. The team will travel to South Carolina to compete in the Clemson/Wofford Tournament, with matches against Clemson on Thursday at 6 p.m., Wofford on Friday at 6 p.m. and USC Upstate on Saturday at 5 p.m.
Men's Tennis
The Elon University men's tennis team is back at the JPTC this weekend for the Elon Tournament to kick off its first of five events this fall. Elon will play in matches from Friday to Sunday. Over the offseason, the team welcomed three additions in freshman Nick Fisk, freshman Sibby Rodi and sophomore Nikola Parichkov.
Football
A two-hour rain delay could not stop the Elon University football team, who dominated Davidson last Saturday night in its home opener, 55-7, for its first victory of the season. Redshirt freshman quarterback Landen Clark earned his first victory and CAA Rookie of the Week award with four total touchdowns and 247 passing yards. Redshirt junior wide receiver Landyn Backey picked up five receptions for a total of 118 yards and two touchdowns. The Phoenix will travel to Cullowhee, North Carolina to face Western Carolina on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
Men's Soccer
Two wins and two shutouts highlighted the past week for the Elon University men's soccer team, who currently sits 3-0-1 overall and 2-0 atop the CAA standings. Senior goalkeeper Jackson Leavitt earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, with two clean sheets and four saves. Redshirt sophomore midfielder Dominik Renz earned CAA Rookie of the Week once again after a game-winning goal against Charleston and an assist against Radford. The Phoenix will face off against USC Upstate at Rudd Field on Saturday at 7 p.m.
