How It Happened
- Elon scored on its second shot of the game in the 15th minute. After Weston Jonke kept the ball from going out of bounds on the left sideline, he found Ben Madore, who held off a Campbell defender before passing the ball to Renz. The CAA's leading scorer then dribbled around a defender before sliding a shot into the bottom right corner of the net for a goal.
- The Phoenix doubled its lead in the 25th minute. Elon drew a free kick from just outside the top right corner of the box, giving the Phoenix a prime scoring opportunity. After Jonke faked taking the kick, Taylor fired it to the far corner, beating Campbell's goalie to make it 2-0.
- Elon cashed in for a third time in the 28th minute. Graham Jones started the scoring sequence by serving the ball into the box from the left side of the field. Jonke headed the cross into a Campbell defender, but the ball ricocheted back onto his foot. He then delivered a pass to Jacobsen, who lifted a shot into the net for Elon's third goal of the night.
- The third goal was the final shot by either team in the first half as the Phoenix took its 3-0 lead into halftime.
- The second half featured just six combined shot attempts despite Elon coming close to creating several scoring opportunities. Campbell took the final shot of the contest in the 89th minute. Â
