ELON – Rafael Ymer picked up another impressive singles win Saturday as the Elon men's tennis team (2-4) fell, 6-1, at No. 23 NC State (8-1).

Ymer won at No. 2 singles to improve to 5-1 on the spring. The sophomore now holds singles victories against Texas A&M and NC State this season. The Wolfpack won the doubles point and the other five singles matches to earn the win.

The match was originally scheduled for a noon start but was delayed due to rain and eventually moved indoors.

The Rundown

• The Wolfpack took the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 spots.
• Ymer and Jack Curtis trailed 4-3 on Court 2 when their match was halted.
• NC State won the first three singles matches to finish to secure a 4-0 lead. All three Wolfpack players in those matches are currently ranked by the ITA.
• Ymer continued his stellar form in singles, defeating Ainius Sabaliauskas, 7-6 (8), 6-3, at the No. 2 position. Ymer saved a pair of set points in the first-set tiebreak before winning the final three points to grab the set. He raced out to a 5-1 lead in the second and recovered after failing to serve out the match in the seventh game, sealing the match with a 6-3 second-set victory.
• Ymer has won five of his six singles matches this season, with four of the wins coming in straight sets. He is currently on a four-match winning streak.
• The Wolfpack won the final two singles matches to wrap up the contest.
• Three of Elon's four defeats this season have come against ITA top 25 opponents. The Phoenix has won a point in two of those three losses.
