Elon Sweeps Georgia State

Phoenix Returns To Win Column With 4-0 Victory

ELON – The Elon men's tennis team (3-5) earned a 4-0 sweep over Georgia State (3-7) on Saturday afternoon at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center.

After securing the doubles point with wins on Courts 1 and 2, the Phoenix closed out the match with singles victories on Courts 1-3. The win was Elon's first since Feb. 8 and snapped a three-match losing streak.

The Rundown
  • The Phoenix secured the doubles point behind a pair of victories from the top two courts.
  • On Court 2, Elon's winningest duo of Jack Curtis and Rafael Ymer teamed up for a 6-1 victory over Aleksandar Andrin and Arthur Attrill. It marked their fourth win together this season and the 14th of their careers. Ymer has now won four straight doubles matches, while Curtis carries a three-match streak.
  • Elon clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 victory from Oskar Antinheimo and Nikola Parichkov at the No. 1 position, as the tandem defeated Gabriele Datei and Aryan Jit Singh in their first match playing together.
  • Nick Fisk and Charles Pilet were locked in a battle on Court 3 against Gustav Andersson and Sota Minami, with the Georgia State duo leading 6-5 when their match was halted.
  • Parichkov wasted little time extending the Phoenix lead, racing to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Attrill at No. 3 singles to put Elon ahead 2-0. It was Parichkov's third dual singles win of the season, the second-most on the team.
  • Ymer then put Elon on the doorstep of the match with a convincing straight-set win of his own on Court 1. The sophomore defeated Datei 6-3, 6-2 for his 17th career dual singles victory and his first from the No. 1 spot. It was just his second career appearance at No. 1 singles.
  • Curtis secured the clinching point for the Phoenix, earning a 6-2, 6-4 decision over Cem Atlamis at the No. 2 position. The win marked his 28th career dual singles victory and his first from the No. 2 spot.
  • Antinheimo, Pilet and Alonso Roca each claimed their first sets on Courts 4-6. Antinheimo and Roca dropped their second sets, while Pilet trailed 5-2 when the match was clinched.
  • Elon is now 1-1 in matches played at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center this spring.
  • The victory was Elon's first sweep of the campaign.
