The Rundown
- The Phoenix secured the opening point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3 doubles.
- On Court 3, Cornelia Kack and Kranec defeated Christine Ma Fourie and Sofiya Snitko of Drexel for Elon's first victory of the day. It was the 13th win of the season for the Kranec and Kack duo, the most on the Phoenix. The pairing improved to 3-0 this spring against conference opponents.
- Simone Bergeron and Reding clinched a 1-0 lead for Elon with a 6-4 triumph against Adva Dabah and Lorie Lemongo on Court 1. Elon's top duo led by a pair of breaks but was caught by the Dragons, who got the match back on serve. However, the juniors broke in the 10th game to clinch doubles for the Phoenix.
- The victory was the 12th this spring for Bergeron and Reding, who have won four straight completed matches together. It was their third win against a CAA opponent on the campaign.
- The match on Court 2 was halted with Madison Cordisco and Nyborg deadlocked at 4-4 against Rebecca Fiedler and Anastasia Kavounov.
Â
- Nyborg stretched Elon's advantage to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at the No. 4 spot against Ma Fourie. Nyborg trailed by a break early in the second set but battled back, breaking in the ninth game before serving out the match. It was Nyborg's 12th win of the spring, tying her with Kack for the second most on the Phoenix. The junior improved to 3-1 this spring against conference opponents.
- Kranec extended the Phoenix lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory on Court 5 against Fiedler. The sophomore led by a break early in the second set, but Fiedler got the match back on serve. In the 10th game, Kranec broke to win the match, outlasting Fiedler in an extended rally on match point. It was Kranec's ninth win of the spring and her third in a CAA match.
- Shortly after Kranec's victory, Reding clinched Elon's spot in the CAA championship match, topping Dabah 6-2, 6-3 on Court 3. It was Reding's 11th straight victory and her 13th overall this spring. The junior has not lost a singles match since Feb. 17 against North Carolina. Reding is the only Phoenix to win in all four of its CAA matches this season.
- Bergeron was up a set and 3-0 when her match was halted on Court 2. She won the final six games of the first set to complete a 7-5 comeback. Cordisco and Kack also led by a set when their matches were stopped.
- With the win, Elon advanced to its third ever CAA championship match and its second in a row.
- The Phoenix improved to 4-0 this season against conference opponents.
- Elon has now swept in eight of its 15 victories this season.
- The Phoenix continued its streak of winning at least one CAA Tournament match since debuting in the event in 2015.Â
- The win avenged Elon's loss to Drexel in the 2024 CAA Tournament quarterfinals at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. This was the third tournament meeting for the Phoenix and Dragons, with Elon winning two of the three.
