DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Elon women's soccer team (2-1-1) scored three goals in the final frame Thursday night to battle Davidson (2-1-1) to a 3-3 draw at Alumni Soccer Stadium.

The Phoenix trailed 1-0 at the half but got second-half tallies from Gabby Tirado, Isabel DiPrima and Isa Murdock to take the lead. The Wildcats answered with two late goals to level the contest.

DiPrima and Tirado's goals were the first of their Elon careers. DiPrima added an assist on Murdock's tally for a three-point night. Murdock also added an assist for a three-point night of her own, with Grace Gelhaus notching a pair of helpers.

The match featured 39 total shots, with the Phoenix attempting 19 of those. Elon has scored now three-plus goals in three of its four matches this season.

How It Happened

• Naomi Person made an important save early for the Phoenix, rising to stop a 10th minute attempt by Davidson to keep the match scoreless.
• The Wildcats broke the scoreless tie in the 19th minute with a goal.
• Elon threatened late in the half, with Talia Feigin and Nicole Kleyner putting shots on target that Davidson stopped. The Wildcats took a 1-0 advantage into the break.
• The Phoenix struck quickly in the second half to tie the match. In the 53rd minute, Gelhaus made a run down the left sideline and crossed the ball into the box for Tirado, who put it into the net for Elon's first goal of the night.
• Elon struck again in the 69th minute to take its first lead of the night. After Murdock headed a ball into the box, DiPrima headed it past Davidson goalkeeper Grace Stair to put the Phoenix in front.
• Murdock tacked on a third Elon goal in the 79th minute, scoring after passes from Gelhaus and DiPrima to make it 3-1 for the Phoenix.
• Davidson scored a pair of goals in a 1:13 span to tie the match at 3-3. The tying goal came in the 84th minute.  
• Person made another clutch stop in the 87th minute to preserve a result for Elon.

 
Notable Numbers

• DiPrima's three points were the first three of her Elon career. The senior played 37 reserve minutes in Elon's midfield.
• Tirado's goal was also the first of her Phoenix tenure. The junior forward has four points in her first four appearances with Elon.
• Gelhaus notched a pair of helpers for her first career multi-assist effort. It was her first multi-point game of the season and 12th of her career.
• Murdock's goal was her second of the campaign and 17th of her career. This was her fifth career outing with three-plus points as her six points this season lead all Elon scorers. She paced the Phoenix with a game-high nine shot attempts on the night.
• DiPrima and Murdock are the third and fourth Elon players to record a three-point game this season, joining Ava Hellner (VCU) and Hannah Carlson (South Carolina State).
• Six of Elon's 10 starters in the field logged the full 90 minutes – Feigin, Gelhaus, Murdock, Megan Dwyer, Jessica Hill and Alexis Pierce. Dwyer is the lone Phoenix to play all 360 minutes on the campaign.
• Hellner returned to Elon's starting lineup after missing the previous two matches, playing 48 minutes.
• Person set a new career best with six saves in goal for Elon. She has now made five-plus stops in two straight contests.
• Elon put 11 shots on goal in the match, edging Davidson's nine attempts on target.
• The Phoenix has scored 14 goals through its first four matches this season. This is the first time Elon has scored multiple goals in three of its first four contests since 2013.
• The second half was Elon's second half this season with three or more goals. The Phoenix netted four in the opening period against South Carolina State on Aug. 20. 
• This is Elon's first tie of the season after tying seven times a season ago.
