Former Ohio State volunteer assistant baseball coach Pete Jenkins joined the Elon program in the same capacity in October.
Jenkins is a former catcher who played in the Milwaukee Brewers organization. At Elon, Jenkins also works with the Phoenix catchers.
Jenkins spent the past three seasons at Ohio State where he helped the Buckeyes to 90 victories and a NCAA Regional appearance. Prior to his stint in Columbus, Jenkins spent two seasons as a member of the staff at Florida State. During his time with the Seminoles, FSU advanced to NCAA Regional play twice. Jenkins has also had stays at both UNC Asheville and Cal State, San Bernardino.
The former Nebraska standout was drafted by the Brewers in 1996 and went on to play four professional seasons before moving into coaching.
In his lone season with the Cornhuskers, Jenkins hit .320. He began his collegiate career at Riverside Community College in California where he played two seasons for the traditional junior college powerhouse program.
Jenkins and his wife, Tiffany, have one child, a daughter named Avery Grace.
