Scott Browne joined the Elon football staff in June of 2007 after spending the previous two seasons as the running backs coach at Charleston Southern University.

Browne currently guides the maroon and gold’s running backs and serves as the special teams coordinator.

Last season, Browne helped punter David Petroni to third-team All-CAA Football honors after he averaged 41.3 yards per punt and had 10 punts of 50 or more yards. Petroni also picked up one league special teams player of the week honor in 2015. Under the leadership of Browne, Petroni was also a 2013 Southern Conference All-Freshman Team member.

In 2014, running back Tracey Coppedge ran for 663 yards, the highest rushing total by an Elon player since 2009.

In 2011, Browne became Elon’s special teams coordinator and saw kicker Adam Shreiner boot a career-long 50-yard field goal in a league contest at Samford. Shreiner collected one SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week honor during the season. The following year, Shreiner became Elon’s all-time leader in PAT’s and was a second-team all-league pick.

Running back Jamal Shuman earned All-SoCon honors in 2009 after rushing for 67.70 yards per game. In 2010, Phoenix running backs rushed for 1,601 yards, averaging 133.4 yards per game on the ground, and 16 scores. Browne saw two of his running backs collect SoCon Freshman of the Week honors in 2008 – A.J. Harris and Shuman.

During Browne’s tenure at Charleston Southern, the Bucs finished 7-4 and snagged a share of the Big South Conference title in 2005 before going 9-2 and appearing in The Sports Network national top-25 poll for the first time in 2006. In his first year at CSU, Browne coached first-team All-Big South honoree Andre Copeland, who set program records for yards and touchdowns in a game.

Browne served as a graduate assistant coach at the University of South Carolina for the 2004 campaign. The Jacksonville, Fla., native worked as an assistant coach at University Christian School in his hometown during the 2003 season.

Browne was a four-year letter winner at South Carolina as an offensive lineman, earning a degree in retail management in 2000. During his time at South Carolina, the Gamecocks won the 2001 Outback Bowl. He was a member of the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll from 1999-2000.

Browne is married to the former Becky Reville and the couple has two children.
