Biography


Summary
Christian Hairston finished his career as one of the most efficient scorers in Elon Basketball history. A native of nearby Greensboro, North Carolina, Hairston played in 123 games and finished his career with the third-highest field goal percentage in program history, making 56.9% of his shots from the floor. His best overall season came in 2015-16 when he averaged 8.6 points and 5.8 rebounds for the maroon and gold. Hairston concluded his career as a two-time CAA All-Academic Team selection, a member of the Dean's List and the Athletic Director's honor roll.

2016-17 (Senior): Appeared in all 32 games and made three starts as a senior • Averaged 2.5 points and 2.6 rebounds per game in around 10 minutes of action per contest • Earned starts against William Peace (Nov. 11), Radford (Dec. 10( and Delaware (Feb. 25) • Scored season-highs of eight points against William Peace (Nov. 11) and James Madison (Feb. 2) • Played a season-high 21 minutes in a win against JMU on Feb. 2 • Shot the ball 43.4% from the floor, scored 81 points and grabbed 83 rebounds.

2015-16 (Junior): Named to the 2016 CAA All-Academic Team for the second consecutive season • Played in all 32 games and made 17 starts as a junior • Had a 60.7 field goal percentage on 116-of-191 shooting, which ranked second in the CAA and was the fifth highest in Elon single-season history • Averaged 8.6 points and a team-best 5.8 rebounds per game • Had a team-high 187 rebounds for the Phoenix • Finished the season with a team-high four double-doubles in games against Kennesaw State (Nov. 30), UNC Asheville (Dec. 21), Hofstra (Jan. 9) and UNCW (Jan. 14) • Set season-highs in minutes (34) rebounds (13) and field goals made (8) in a narrow loss to Hofstra on Jan. 9 • Scored a season-high 21 points in an overtime victory against Kennesaw State (Nov. 30) • Started 17 straight contests from Dec. 13, 2015 until Feb. 6, 2016 • Went on a three-month tear from Nov. 30, 2015 until Feb. 11, 2016, averaged 11 points and seven rebounds.

2014-15 (Sophomore): Played in all 33 games as a sophomore, averaging 19.3 minutes • Named to the 2015 CAA All-Academic Team •  Finished the year with a 61.9 field goal percentage on 73-of-119 shooting, the second highest in Elon history behind only Richard McGeorge’s 62.0-percent mark set in 1968-69 • Averaged 5.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game • Had four double-digit scoring efforts, including a season-high 14 points and a season-best 11 boards versus Virginia University of Lynchburg on Dec. 2 • Scored 12 points against first-place UNCW on Feb. 28 • Played a season-high 29 minutes against Marist on Dec. 28.

2013-14 (Freshman): Played in 26 games as a true freshman • Scored 10 points against Central Penn on Dec. 19 and versus Washington & Lee on Nov. 8, Elon’s season opener • Grabbed a season-high eight boards against Canisius in the NIT Season Tip-Off on Nov. 15 • Averaged 1.8 points per game. 

High School: Earned 2013 NCISAA All-State honors • Averaged 10.2 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists at Greensboro Day as a senior under head coach Freddy Johnson • Named Greensboro Day’s Most Improved Player in 2013 and was an all-conference honoree • An honor roll student at Greensboro Day.

Personal: The son of Vince and Cheryl • The nephew of the late Eric Hairston ’87, who ranks second all-time in Elon men’s basketball history in blocked shots • Born September 15, 1994.
