In his first season with the Phoenix in 2020-21, Elon finished with a 10-9 overall record and made an appearance in its first ever CAA Tournament Championship game. Additionally Dakich helped two student-athletes receive postseason honors in Hunter McIntosh (2nd Team) and Darius Burford (All-Rookie).

Dakich finished his collegiate career with Ohio State in 2017-2018 where he appeared in 34 games and helped the Buckeyes to a 25-9 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament. After his graduate year with Ohio State, Dakich joined the Buckeyes staff as a student assistant while he earned his graduate degree in Sports Coaching. He stepped into a Program Assistant role for the 2019-2020 season with the Buckeyes.

Dakich earned his undergraduate degree in History from the University of Michigan in 2017 where he was a member of the Wolverines basketball team for four years.

Quoting Head Coach Mike Schrage:
"We are excited to welcome Andrew Dakich to our Elon family! I had the fortune to coach Andrew like I did for Tyler. He is a former coach's son who is tough, selfless and has an incredible heart and feel for the game. He comes from winning programs and has learned from great coaches early in his career. He improves every team that he's a part of, and we will really benefit from him choosing to join Elon."
