Career Summary
Steven Santa Ana, a native of Charlotte, North Carolina, played in 122 games and made 91 starts during his four-year career as a Phoenix. Overall, Santa Ana finished his career averaging 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 0.8 blocks per game. He became the 43rd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points on Nov. 27 against Central Penn, becoming the first Elon basketball player to eclipse 1,000 career points in Schar Center. Santa Ana finished his career ranked 16th on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,409 career points. He is also is in the top-6 all-time in multiple categories for three-point shooting including 4th in three-point attempts (674) and 6th in three-pointers made (237). In single-season history, his 71 triples in 2018-19 and 2016-17 rank tied for 10th all-time and his 217 three-point attempts in 2016-17 ranked 5th in program history. Santa Ana also shares the program record for the most three-pointers in a game with his nine against William & Mary in Kaplan Arena on Jan. 5, 2017. His 34 points against Towson on March 2 were tied for the most in a single game by an Elon player in the program's NCAA Division I era. For his performance during his final two regular season games as a Phoenix, Santa Ana was named the Lou Henson National Player of the Week and the CAA Player of the Week after averaging 27.0 points, 9.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists. Santa Ana graduated in May of 2019 with degrees in Finance and Management. He was rewarded for his hard work in the classroom claiming 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, earning a spot on the 2016-17 CAA All-Academic Team, and a multi-year honoree on the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

2018-19 (Senior)

Appeared in all 32 games and made 29 starts during his junior season  • Averaged 9.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.9 assists in just over 28 minutes per game • Scored in double-figures 17 times, which included two 20+ point scoring efforts • His 53 three-pointers was the third-highest total on the team • Had the fifth-highest point total (309) during the 2017-18 season • Recorded six or more rebounds in 12 games • Scored 21 points and had eight rebounds during a triple overtime win against FIU (Nov. 17) • Posted 19 points, six rebounds and five assists in a road win at Boston University (Dec. 17) • Recorded 13 points and dished out a season-high tying six assists in a CAA opening win against Drexel (Dec. 30) • Chipped in 17 points as the Phoenix defeated Towson (Jan. 2) • Scored a season-high 23 points, which included a season-best six three-pointers, and grabbed six rebounds in Elon's win against College of Charleston (Jan. 13) • Forced a season-best three steals in a road win at Towson (Jan. 27) •  Made a season-high five free throws and scored 11 points against James Madison (Feb. 26) • Add 15 points and a season-high tying eight rebounds against Delaware (March 3) in the first round of the CAA Championships • Scored in double-figures 11 times during conference play • Named to the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

Played in 27 games and made one start in his first season with Elon • Averaged 18.5 minutes of playing time per contest • Was fourth on the team with 42 made three-pointers • Finished the season averaging 8.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game • Shot the ball 40.7 percent (77-of-189) from the field • Made his Phoenix debut in the season-opener at Charlotte (Nov. 13) • Scored a season-high 20 points against College of Charleston (Jan. 13) and finished 4-of-5 from three-point range • Recorded his first-career double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a win at James Madison (Jan. 7) • Finished the season 12 games scoring in double figures • He led the team in points scored twice • Scored 15 or more points in five contests • Missed five games due to injury with a small fracture in his right hand • Named to the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.

High School
Recruited as a 6-4, 185-pound guard from Charlotte, N.C. • Played high school ball at Ardrey Kell under the direction of head coach Mike Craft • Led Ardrey Kell to the North Carolina 4A basketball final as a senior in 2014-15, scoring a North Carolina state-record 44 points in the championship game against Garner, including 33 points (also a state record) in the second half • An Associated Press all-state selection, a two-time conference player of the year and three-time all-conference selection • Owns 11 of Ardrey Kell’s 27 school records, including career points, rebounds, steals and threes made • Named the state finals MVP and helped his school to a 28-2 record his final season, including a streak of 27 straight wins • Led Ardrey Kell to a 75-15 overall record in his final three seasons.
