Brooks LeCompte begins his first season as an assistant cross country/distance coach at Elon. LeCompte will assist Phoenix head cross country coach Kevin Jermyn with coaching the middle/long distance athletes as well as assisting the staff with day to day operations and recruiting efforts.

LeCompte arrives from Louisiana State University where he served as a volunteer assistant cross country and track coach, working under mentor and two-time U.S. Olympian Khadevis Robinson. In his only year with the Tigers, LeCompte played an intricate role in helping Coach Robinson guide his athletes to a number of school records and into the program's Top-10 all-time performance lists. He assisted to help the LSU’s women’s indoor distance medley relay team to race a school-record 10:57 performance at Notre Dame, which ranked fourth nationally in 2017. The men’s DMR also broke the school record, narrowly missing a national birth running at 9:31. LeCompte helped guide freshman Ruby Stauber to a fifth-place, All-American performance in the indoor 800-meters after clocking a time of 2:03.01. He also helped tutor senior Blair Henderson to place seventh nationally for the Tigers to earn his first All-American achievement. He also helped with assisting senior Morgan Schuetz to personal-records of 2:03 in the 800-meters and 4:38 in the one-mile, the latter breaking the oldest school record at LSU. He also played an important role aiding senior Christian Johnson to his first All-SEC performance, placing eighth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:07.

Prior to LSU, LeCompte also coached at UL-Lafayette and St. Louis Catholic High School.

LeCompte received his bachelor’s degree in health and human performance from McNeese State University, where he also competed in track and cross country. LeCompte has a USATF Level I certification as well as a USTFCCCA Technical Coach Certification. LeCompte and his wife, Kelly, have one daughter Emma and two sons, Jayden and Kai, and reside in Burlington, N.C.
