Shaina Sondakh-Dorantes serves as Elon University's Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Medicine and NCAA Health Care Administrator. She was promoted to her current role in September 2025 after originally joining the Phoenix staff in August 2021 as an assistant athletic trainer.
Sondakh-Dorantes oversees the operations of Elon's entire sports medicine program in addition to working directly with the Phoenix men's basketball, men's golf and women's golf programs. She has previously worked directly with Elon's women's soccer and lacrosse programs as well.
Before coming to Elon, Shaina had been at Indiana Wesleyan University since 2020. In her role at Indiana Wesleyan, Sondakh-Dorantes worked with the Wildcat women’s basketball and volleyball programs as an assistant athletic trainer and preceptor for the undergraduate athletic training students. During her time there both teams won conference championships and traveled to the NAIA National Championship tournament. While working towards a master’s degree from Concordia University Wisconsin, Sondakh-Dorantes spent 2018-2020 working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Concordia University Ann Arbor working with the Cardinal football, baseball, cheer, and dance programs. Similarly, these programs experienced great success; with a cheer NAIA national championship, NCCAA World Series Championship, and NAIA Football Championship Quarter Final run.
Sondakh-Dorantes earned her Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from The University of Michigan, followed by her MBA in Health Care Administration through Concordia University Wisconsin.
A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sondakh-Dorantes is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and holds several certifications including, dry needling, cupping, and Graston Technique.
