Evan Mills

Evan Mills was named the associate director of sports performance in June of 2024. He oversees the physical development of the women’s basketball and volleyball teams.
 
Prior to coming to Elon, Mills spent six years with the Marshall Thundering Herd, initially joining the program as an assistant strength and conditioning coach in the fall of 2018. In the summer of 2022, Mills was promoted to director of Olympic sports performance where he oversaw 10 sports. During his time at Marshall, Mills headed the department’s internship program, nutrition program, and assisted in the redesign of the Olympic weight room. As director, he welcomed Marshall University’s first full-time athletics dietician, the development of an athlete centered dining hall, and a stronger integration with the University sports science department. Mills also oversaw the men’s basketball team grab an impressive 24-win regular season and the men’s soccer and women’s basketball programs become Sun Belt regular season, as well as Sun Belt Tournament, champions.

Prior to joining The Herd, Mills began his career at Saint Leo University where he had an opportunity to work with 18 different athletics programs. During his time there, Saint Leo athletics grabbed an impressive 17 regular season or conference tournament championships, multiple individual and team national championship appearances, and a national championship win with men’s golf.

While at Saint Leo, Mills earned his bachelor’s degree in sport business and his master’s degree in marketing. He currently holds certifications through the NSCA (CSCS), Precision Nutrition (PN Level 1) and Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED.
