Elon University Athletics

Margaret Laws was promoted to Senior Associate Athletics Director for Finance and Administration in July of 2024.  In this role, she is a key member of the Department’s Executive Staff, serves as the athletic department’s chief financial officer, and is the sport administrator for various sports.  She oversees the daily operations of the athletics business office, including all financial reporting, purchasing, and budget management, and collaborates closely with the university's accounting and purchasing offices. In addition, Laws oversees Facilities and Event Management, Equipment Operations, and is the department’s primary liaison with Human Resources. 

Prior to being promoted into her current position, she served as Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations from June 2022 to July 2024 and the Assistant Athletics Director for Business Operations from 2018 to 2022. She joined Elon in 2018 from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was the Assistant Director of Business Operations from 2014 to 2018.

Laws, a native of Oak Ridge, NC, received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration & Psychology from Peace College in 2011, where she was also a four-year letter winner on the women’s basketball team. Following graduation, she briefly worked for Nationwide Insurance prior to pursuing a graduate degree from The Ohio State University. Laws earned her Master of Sport Management degree from Ohio State in December of 2013. Laws has been a member of the College Athletic Business Management Association since 2014. Laws and her husband, Jarrett, are proud parents of twins, Caroline and Jackson.
