Elon University Athletics

Mike Hernandez joined Elon University Athletics as the Associate Director of Development in June 2025. His duties include overseeing team events, stewardship, and external engagement, while also supporting Phoenix Club fundraising initiatives.

Before coming to Elon, Hernandez held roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as the Graduate Assistant for the Athletics Administration Executive Staff and at Rider University as the Marketing and Fan Engagement Assistant.

Prior to his transition into athletics, Hernandez served in the United States Marine Corps from 2011 to 2021. During his decade of service, he served as a Drill Instructor, Martial Arts Instructor, and Ordnance Technician.

He earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Management and Business Administration from Rider University in 2023 and his master’s degree in Sports Administration from the University of North Carolina in 2025.
