Troy L. Sayles was promoted to Associate Director of Athletic Communications in May of 2023 after serving as Assistant Director of Athletic Communications for 11 years. 

Sayles aids in the public relations efforts for Elon's 17 varsity sports and among other duties is the primary communications contact for Phoenix football, men's and women's cross country, women's track and field and softball programs. He's also served as the primary contact for the Elon men's soccer soccer and women's basketball teams while also working with the volleyball, women's soccer and women's lacrosse programs. He has also served as the secondary contact for the Phoenix's men's basketball team.

Sayles spent his first two years as a Athletic Communications assistant at Elon beginning in the fall of 2012 before being promoted to his current post of Assistant Director of Communications for Athletics in 2014. During his first two years, he worked with the men's soccer program as the team won back-to-back conference titles and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2012-13. He was the media contact when the Phoenix advanced in the NCAA Tournament past #24 Clemson on its home field in the opening round in 2013.

Prior to Elon, Sayles spent time as a undergraduate and graduate assistant at his alma mater at Angelo State University. While at Angelo State, Sayles was the primary contact for the volleyball, women's basketball, cross country and women's golf programs as a graduate assistant while also helping the staff with game-day responsibilities and publications. He also was a member of the Rams cross country team for one season.

A native of Ore City, Texas, Sayles earned his master's degree in student development and leadership and his bachelor's in history from Angelo State. He is also a member of CoSIDA.
