RICHMOND, Va. – For the fourth time this season, the Colonial Athletic Association has named Elon women's basketball's Shay Burnett the Rookie of the Week.
 
Burnett led Elon to an exciting 77-76 overtime victory against Delaware last week in Alumni Gym with a team-high 19 points. The freshman finished 6-of-13 from the field to shoot 46 percent, including 2-of-3 from three, and went 5-of-6 from the charity stripe (83 percent), while also hauling down five rebounds and handing out a game-high five assists. After the Graham, N.C., native hit two free throws to put Elon up at the end of regulation, she scored six of Elon's 10 points in overtime.
 
Fourth-seeded Elon begins play in the 2015 CAA Women's Basketball Championship in the quarterfinals on Friday, March 13, against fifth-seeded UNCW. Tip is set for 2:30 p.m. in The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md.
