LYNCHBURG, VA (AP) _ Four Elon players rushed for touchdowns as the Fightin' Christians defeated Liberty 38-14 on Saturday.
Elon (8-2) had no passing yards. Derrick Moore went 0-for-5 with one interception.
Still, the Christians built a 31-0 lead on rushing touchdowns by Steven Ferguson, Addison Houston, DeWayne Thomas and Ike Herndon and a 31-yard field goal by Jim Willis.
Liberty (4-6) got on the board with a 68-yard fumble recovery by Sammie Choice with 2:50 left in the fourth quarter. Less than a minute later, the Flames' Travis Burns caught a 29-yard TD pass from Biff Parson to bring them within 31-14.
After a failed onside kick that Brian Broadie returned to the 4-yard line, Eric Jones ran it in for the Christians' final points.
Elon, ranked 23rd in last week's I-AA poll, will close out the regular season at home next Saturday, November 13, hosting Morehead State at 2:00 p.m.
