BUIES CREEK, NC -- Elon's Julianne Treme (Salisbury, NC) rallied to defeat Megan Cannon at No. 4 singles to lead the Fightin' Christians to a 5-4 victory at Campbell University Tuesday afternoon. Cannon won the first set 6-1, but Treme stormed back winning the final two sets 6-4, 6-4 to give Elon a point in the match.

Sarah Collins (Newport Beach, CA) defeated Hillary Langston at No. 5 singles 6-4, 6-2, while Roberta McCue (Charleston, SC) scored a 6-4, 6-0 win over Wendy Goyette at No. 6 singles as the Fightin' Christians capture their season opener to move their record to 1-0.

In doubles competition, Elon won two of the three matches. The "Dutch" duo of Sarah Benhaim (Nootdrop, Netherlands) and Imre Kwast (Netherlands) were victorious over the duet ofTeodora Doncheva and Megan Cannon at No. 1 doubles, 8-0. Elon also won at No. 3 doubles as Laura Knutson (Chapel Hill, NC) and Sarah Collins defeated the team of Hillary Langston and Wendy Goyette, 8-3.

Elon will play their home opener on Thursday when they host Meredith College at 2:30 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center. Campbell (4-1) drops their first match of the season and will be at UNC Greensboro, this Friday at 2:00 p.m.
