Men's Soccer Signs Five

ELON COLLEGE, NC -- Mike Reilly, head coach of Elon's men's soccer team, announced the signings of five players to National Letters of Intent on Monday.

Midfielder Steven Aparicio (Plano, TX; Plano East HS) was captain of his Plano East team and was a member of the Longhorns Soccer Club. The 5'6", 135 pounder was named MVP of his 1999-2000 team as well as 1st Team 5A All-District in that same year. In 1998-1999, Aparicio was named to the North Texas Olympic Development Program team. Steven is the son of Oscar and Melody Aparicio.

Midfielder/Forward Ryan Carroll (Alparetta, GA; Chattahoochee HS) is currently in his senior season at Chattahoochee High. Carroll is am member of the Concorde Soccer Club. He was a member of the Georgia Olympic Development Program team from 1996-1998 as well as the 1997 Region III team. The 5'8", 145 pounder is the son of Brent and Joan Carroll.

Forward/Midfielder Brandon Hayes (Westlake, OH; Westlake HS) was captain of his Westlake High team where he notche 25 goals and 11 assists during his senior season. The 6'0", 170 pounder is also the team captain of his Cleveland United Club team. Hayes was a 1999 and 2000 Region II Olympic Development Program team member. Brandon is the son of Ron Hayes and Silvia Hayes.

Goal Keeper Kyle Ostendorf (Chagrin Falls, OH; Hawken School) notched a school record 15 shutouts at Hawken School. The 5'10" keeper was captain of his prep team and was a member of the Internationals and Emerald Soccer Clubs. Ostendorf was named 1st Team All Greater Cleveland, All Ohio and All Midwest. Kyle is the son of Richard Ostendorf and Rita Szymczak.

Midfielder/Defender Brian Scheall (North Ridgeville, OH; Elyria Catholic HS) scored 27 goals and notched seven assists during his senior season. The 5'9", 155 pounder was captain of his prep team and was a member of the Cleveland United club team. Scheall was named 1st Team All League and All Greater Cleveland. He was a member of the 2000 Olympic Development Program team and was named to the 2000 Region II ODP team. Brian is the son of Gary and Sue Scheall.
