Elon Wins Fourth Straight Match With 3-0 Victory

SPARTANBURG, S.C.–The Elon volleyball team downed the Terriers of Wofford in a three-game conference match on Sunday afternoon at Benjamin Johnson Arena. Elon won the match by scores of 30-17, 30-23 and 30-25.

Elon was led by Juliena Gigon with 14 kills and only two errors on 26 total attacks for a .462 hitting percentage while also tallying 11 digs. Emily Hayes contributed 13 kills and Emily Lucci chipped in with 10 kills. Natalie Moore added 41 assists to the Phoenix offense. MK Spear led the Elon defense with 18 digs.

Leading the Wofford offensive attack was Andrea Duke who posted team highs of 12 kills, 39 total attacks and 12 digs. Katie Laser collected 11 kills, 32 total attacks and nine digs for the Terriers. Rhea DeJesus assisted on 30 of the Terriers' 32 kills and Simons Swanson dug 11 Phoenix attempts defensively.

With the win, Elon improves to 16-10 overall and 8-3 in league action. Wofford drops to 8-18 overall and 4-7 in the Southern Conference.

Elon will begin its final three home contests of the season Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. versus UNC Greensboro. The Terriers will next play Southern Conference-leading College of Charleston at home at 7:00 p.m. Friday in the second of a four-match homestand.
