ELON, N.C. -- Elon University Athletics and Verizon Wireless have teamed up to name a Verizon Wireless "Performer of the Month" on the last Wednesday of each month. The recipient of this award for November is senior football player Calvin Sutton (Grifton, N.C.).

In three games this month, the outside linebacker totaled 22 tackles, including 10 stops in Elon's victory over Southern Conference foe The Citadel on November 13. Among his 22 tackles were six tackles for a total loss of 21 yards. He also recorded two sacks and three pass break-ups during the month.

Sutton was named First Team All-Southern Conference by the league's coaches and Second Team All-Southern Conference by the media this week. Sutton finished the regular season ranked first in the league in tackles for loss with 20, third in passes defended with 10, fifth in total tackles with 83 and tied for seventh in sacks with five.

On behalf of Calvin Sutton, Verizon Wireless will donate $250 to the Elon Athletics Foundation general scholarship fund.
