Elon Announces 2005 Football Schedule

ELON, N.C. – Elon University announced the 2005 Phoenix football schedule – its third slate as a member of the Southern Conference – Monday afternoon. The 11-game schedule consists of six home contests and five road games. This slate is an updated version of the schedule originally released last June.

The schedule consists of seven Southern Conference battles and four non-conference contests. It also includes four games against opponents that finished ranked among the country’s top 25 teams according to the 2004 Sports Network NCAA-IAA poll – No. 5 Furman, No. 10 Georgia Southern, No. 18 Wofford and No. 24 Coastal Carolina.

“We’re looking forward to playing another competitive schedule in the Southern Conference along with the addition of an outstanding Coastal Carolina team coming here for our opener,” said second-year Elon coach Paul Hamilton. “Having the opportunity to play four of the first five games at home will hopefully be a plus along with having an open date at the end of the year going into our last two games.”
