RICHMOND, Va. – Elon sophomore defensive end Kahmari Brown was voted as CAA Co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday morning by the conference office. Brown led the Phoenix defensive with career highs in tackles, sacks and tackles for loss in a 26-21 loss to William & Mary last Saturday.
Brown's career day included 13 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss and 3.0 sacks, including a pair on the Tribe's second-to-last drive when the Phoenix needed a stop. His individual performance helped the Phoenix hold William & Mary scoreless in the fourth quarter as it attempted to stage a comeback.
The Jacksonville, North Carolina, product now ranks among Elon's top 10 in both career sacks (10.5) and single-season sacks (6.0; seventh). Brown is just 2.5 sacks away from tying the program's single-season sack record of 8.5 sacks, set by Andre Campbell (2009) and Marcus Hillman (2022).
Brown shared the CAA's weekly defensive award with Rhode Island linebacker A.J. Pena.
Brown and the Phoenix return to the gridiron this Saturday at Maine. Kickoff between Elon and the Black Bears will be at 1 p.m. ET in Orono, Maine.
