Southern Conference's SoCon.TV Set to Launch at Elon/GSU Foo

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference will officially launch its premium video streaming content site, SoCon.TV, Saturday, Oct. 1 with the Georgia Southern-Elon football game from Elon, N.C.

Beginning with the GSU-Elon game, fans can purchase individual events for viewing at $5.95. Fans can also purchase a SoCon Championship package on a yearly, seasonal or individual event basis. A yearly SoCon Championship pass to SoCon.TV is $44.95, $9.95 for a seasonal subscription and $5.95 for a single event.

To view the video streamed events, it requires subscribers to have a high-speed internet connection (DSL, cable or above), Microsoft Windows Media Player 9.0 or greater downloaded and installed, and a screen resolution of 800x600 or greater, among other requirements.

Other events to be aired during the month of October include the league’s annual Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tip-Off on Monday, Oct. 10, which officially kicks off the 2005-06 basketball season. The media will have the opportunity to visit with all 11 SoCon basketball coaches, with the women’s coaches available from 9-10:30 a.m. and the men’s coaches to follow from 10:30-Noon.

Also, the Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Championships will be broadcast online, offering subscribers an audio stream of the championship from Statesboro, Ga.. This is the first of eight league championships that will be video streamed on SoCon.TV throughout the 2005-06 campaign.

In addition, the SoCon’s website partner, XOS Network, is launching the rollout of ‘XOS On the Go’ for the league’s website, SoConSports.com. This option will allow the news and scores from around the league to follow fans wherever they go, enabling users to access headlines and scores on their wireless devices.

Fans can go to mobile.SoConSports.com to gain access to a mobile-friendly site with the latest five stories and five scores displayed for their convenience. Users can take advantage of the nearly graphics-free page, which will speed up the loading of the page on these devices.
