A 1994 graduate of Roanoke College, where he is a member of that school’s Hall of Fame, and a former NCAA Division III Player of the Year, Fonder came to Elon after serving as the men's and women's soccer assistant at his alma mater for five seasons. At Roanoke, Fonder was involved in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scheduling and academic development.
Fonder (right) has also gained coaching experience with the Roanoke Valley Youth Soccer Club and at Radford University. He played professionally in both the USISL and NPSL from 1997-2001. Fonder is also involved in the development of youth soccer, as he serves as the director of coaching for the Burlington Soccer Club and is heavily involved with the North Carolina ODP teams as a staff coach.
While with the Phoenix, Fonder helped with recruiting, scheduling and academic advising. He helped to build Elon’s men’s soccer program from an RPI of 165 in 2004 to its first ever Top-25 national ranking in the 2006 season.
Elon head coach Darren Powell had this to say about fonder, "On behalf of the players and staff at Elon University I would like to thank Dustin for his excellent work here at Elon. He was very much a part of our recent success. We all wish much success on his new venture and know he will do a good job at High Point University."
