Elon Men's Soccer Earns Regional Ranking

KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- The Elon men's soccer program claimed its first regional ranking of the 2007 campaign on Tuesday afternoon, debuting at number nine in the South Region in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America rankings. The Phoenix is one of four Southern Conference squads rated among the top-10 in the region.

Elon currently owns a 5-2-2 record and sits atop the Southern Conference with a 2-0-0 league mark.

Topping the regional rankings is Wake Forest (7-0-0) who is also ranked as the nation's top team. Duke (7-2-0), Furman (8-1-0), South Carolina (6-3-0) and College of Charleston (6-2-1) round out the top-five teams in the region. Campbell (5-2-1) sits sixth while Stetson (5-3-0) and North Carolina (2-2-4) are tied for seventh. Elon currently sits ahead of Appalachian State (5-2-2) who rates 10th.

The Phoenix will take on both Wake Forest and Appalachian State this week.
