Elon Announces Athletics Department Staff Changes

ELON, N.C.Dave Blank, Elon University Director of Athletics, has announced the promotion of Megan Donald to Assistant Director of Marketing for Website Operations and the addition of Elizabeth Ballard as Assistant Sports Information Director.

Donald, who served the Phoenix as Assistant Sports Information Director the past four years, will oversee the upkeep of elonphoenix.com under the supervision of Trip Durham, Associate Director of Athletics for Marketing. Ballard, who served Georgia Southern University last year as an athletic media relations intern, joins Matt Eviston, Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Information and Media Relations, and Chris Rash, Assistant Sports Information Director, in the Elon Sports Information Office.

“We are thrilled about the marketing and sports information team we have built to help support the efforts of the athletics department as we go forward with our goals to be successful at the Division I level and in the Southern Conference,” Blank said. “With the launch of our new website this spring, it was important that we put someone with Megan’s talent and vision in charge of it. Elizabeth is a very welcome addition to our sports information staff and will also do an outstanding job for our student-athletes.”

A 2003 Roanoke College graduate, Donald represented the Phoenix as the primary sports information contact for cross country, softball and volleyball the past four years and as the primary contact for men’s basketball the last three seasons. This spring, she successfully nominated men’s basketball player Chris Chalko and softball player Paige Goss for ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America accolades.

A 2006 University of South Alabama graduate, Ballard worked for Georgia Southern as the Eagles’ main sports information contact for tennis and volleyball last year. While at South Alabama, she worked two years in the school’s communications department and another year in the athletic media relations office. At Elon, Ballard will be the primary contact for cross country, women’s basketball, softball and volleyball.
