Powell Sets Men's Soccer Spring Slate

ELON, N.C. -- The Elon men's soccer program will kick off its spring season on Wednesday, February 13 with a 7 p.m. contest against Sports Ed at Rudd Field.  Throughout the spring, the Phoenix will play a total of 11 games on seven dates.  The spring season will run through April 26.  The schedule features two games against professional USL Division programs as well as collegiate competition.

"We have put together the correct combination of games for our program this spring," said Elon head coach Darren Powell.  "We play professional USL teams, Division I and Division II universities to give our whole squad the opportunity to play in competitive matches.  As we continue to improve we look forward to see how our student athletes compete on the field this spring."

Following Elon's date with Sports Ed, the Phoenix will visit the USL's Richmond Kickers on March 9 for 4 p.m. game.  On March 16, Elon will participate in the Jacksonville Showcase, taking on the USL's Wilmington Hammerheads at 1 p.m. and UNC Wilmington at 2:30 p.m.

A trip to the Bryan Park ODP Showcase in Greensboro follows on April 6.  Here, the Phoenix will take on Virginia Tech at 10:30 a.m. and Radford at 1:30 p.m.

The final three dates will all be played at home.  The first will be April 10 when Elon will battle Louisburg at 5 p.m. and Lees-McRae at 7:30 p.m.  In between, Louisburg and Lees-McRae will play each other.

April 19 will see Darren Powell's Phoenix take on Belmont Abbey at 5 p.m. and Campbell at 7:30 p.m. with those two squads dueling at 6:15 p.m.

The final match will come against Elon alumni on April 26 at 3 p.m.
