Elon Announces Athletics Department Staff Additions

ELON, N.C. – Dave Blank, Elon University Director of Athletics, has announced the addition of two support staff members – Lijah Galas as Coordinator of Video Operations for Athletics and Jen Blackwell as Assistant Sports Information Director.

“We are very excited about the support team we have built to assist the efforts of our athletics department as we go forward with our goals to be successful at the Division I level and in the Southern Conference,” Blank said. “Both Lijah and Jen are extremely passionate about their responsibilities and are well prepared for their positions at Elon. They will provide a valuable service to our student-athletes and coaches.”

Galas worked the past four years as Camera Operator for the Tampa Bay Community Network while also working as Camera Operator for the New York Yankees during their spring training in Tampa, Fla., the past three years. He has also served the Arena Football League’s Tampa Bay Storm as Video Coordinator for three years.

Galas also provided Camera Operator services for three years to the Tampa Bay Lightning and the University of South Florida men’s basketball team. While at South Florida, he was also the Assistant Video Coordinator for the football team for three years. At Elon, he will spearhead the video operations of all 16 of the Phoenix’s NCAA Division I teams.

Blackwell, who served the College of Charleston last year as Assistant Director for Media Relations, joins Matt Eviston, ninth-year Assistant Director of Athletics for Sports Information and Media Relations, and Chris Rash, eighth-year Assistant Sports Information Director, in the Elon Sports Information Office. She replaces Elizabeth Ballard, who left last month to pursue a similar position at Nicholls State University.

At Charleston, the 2007 University of South Carolina graduate served as the primary sports information contact for the Cougars’ 2007 Southern Conference champion volleyball team. As a Media Relations Student Assistant at South Carolina, Blackwell worked as the primary contact for the Gamecocks’ 2007 national champion equestrian squad. At Elon, she will be the primary contact for cross country, women’s basketball, softball and volleyball.
