ELON, N.C. -- The Elon Phoenix men's soccer squad will look to bounce back from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the William & Mary Tribe on Saturday by taking on the 15th-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels from Fetzer Field in Chapel Hill on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. A year ago, Elon played UNC to a 1-1 tie in front of over 1,700 fans at Rhodes Stadium.
The Phoenix (2-4-1) is led by
Justin Wyatt who has two goals and an assist for a team-best five points.
Erfan Imeni has also added two scores for Elon who has allowed only one goal more than it has scored.
In goal,
Kyle Boerner has started five matches, making 10 saves on the year. In last year's tilt with the Tar Heels, Boerner turned away nine attempts.
North Carolina (5-1-1), ranked 15th in the most recent NSCAA poll, suffered its first defeat of the season the squad's most recent outing. The Boston College Eagles handed UNC a 4-1 loss.
Eddie Ababio has a team-best five goals for the Tar Heels who have outscored opponents 15-8 this season.
