Phoenix Looks for First-Ever Win over Samford on Monday

ELON, N.C. – The Elon women’s basketball team will look for its first-ever win over the Samford Bulldogs on Monday evening at 8 p.m. EST, at the Pete Hanna Center in Birmingham, Ala. Elon trails the Bulldogs 3-0 in the all-time series. Samford picked up a 72-64 win over the Phoenix earlier this season. Elon enters the contest with an 8-14 overall record and is 3-10 in Southern Conference play. Samford is 16-6 on the season and 10-3 in the SoCon and has won each of its last five games.

Quick Notes
• Monday’s game marks just the fourth meeting between Elon and Samford on the hardwood. The Phoenix dropped a hard-fought 72-64 decision to Samford earlier this season at Alumni Gym.
• In the first meeting of the season between the teams, Elon had three players in double figures, led by Ali Ford with 25 points. Lei Lei Hairston was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and 14 points. Urysla Cotton also finished with 14 points.
Ali Ford earned her first 20-point game away from Alumni Gym against Chattanooga. The freshman phenom tallied 20 points and two assists in the loss to the Lady Mocs. Ford now has eight 20-point performances and has scored in double figures in 17 of Elon’s 22 games.
